Legislative Listening Post

  • Ames Public Library Auditorium 515 Douglas Avenue Ames, IA, 50010 United States (map)

State Senator Herman Quirmbach and State Representatives Beth Wessel-Kroeschell and Ross Wilburn, all of Ames, will hold a listening post this Friday, January 17, to hear constituents’ concerns for the 2020 legislative session.  The public and press are invited.  Attendees are invited to bring their own lunch.

The Iowa Legislature convenes the 2020 session on Monday, January 13.  Important issues will include education, workforce development, the environment, access to health care and child care, the budget, and medical marijuana, among many other possible topics.

Sen. Quirmbach said, “Our job is to represent the people of our districts.  We are reaching out to everyone and asking you to share your hopes and priorities for this year’s legislative session.”

Rep. Wessel-Kroeschell commented, “Listening to my constituents is the most important thing I do.”

“Citizen input was very helpful as I went door to door last fall, so sharing your experiences with us will continue to be valuable as this year's legislative session begins,” Rep. Wilburn added.

Combined, the three legislators’ districts include all of the cities of Ames and Kelley, as well as Grant, Milford, and Washington Townships to the south and east.
