Lucy Martin, Story County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections, encourages all voters to consider absentee voting via the postal system for the upcoming June 2 Primary Election.“Absentee voting by mail has been widely utilized in Iowa for decades. It is a very safe and secure process. If you’ve never used it before, the time has never been better,” said Martin.
Use the postage-paid request form found here-

Be sure to select the party of your choice (necessary ONLY for Primary Elections). If your selection changes your current voter registration, you will receive a voter information card in the mail.
Ballots will be mailed out to voters beginning on Monday,
May 4.“Because contingency plans due to the COVID-19 pandemic include consolidating polling places, I’ve added postage to our request forms,” said Martin. “If turnout for the Primary Election matches previous cycles, the cost of making the forms postage-paid will be roughly equivalent to the associated costs of two polling places."
Ballots mailed to voters are sent in envelopes sealed by machine.
Voted ballots are returned in peel-and-stick envelopes. All postage is paid.
Requirements to receive an absentee ballot:
You must be a registered voter in Story County. Not sure of your registration status? Call the Auditor’s Office or check online at sos.iowa.gov
Requests must be in writing and include an original signature. You cannot request a ballot over the phone.
Martin cautions voters about fear mongering and misinformation. “Elections containing federal races cannot be postponed or delayed in the State of Iowa—it’s the law.”Detailed information about the upcoming Primary Election is available at www.storycountyiowa.gov/elections
